If we are unable to deliver as agreed, we register a failed delivery and follow up on the further handling. This may mean that the goods must be redelivered, returned, or delivered under a new agreement.
Redelivery may incur additional costs, depending on the reason and the specific agreement.
Ensure that the recipient is informed about the delivery, that access conditions are in order, and that someone is available to receive the goods within the agreed time window.
If it is not possible for the recipient to be present, flex delivery can in some cases be agreed for the shipment. With flex delivery, the customer gives SDL permission to leave the goods at the recipient’s premises without a signature. Instead, we take a photo of the goods at the delivery address as documentation, and responsibility then transfers to the recipient.
Any special conditions at the address must always be stated already at the time of booking, so we can plan the delivery correctly.
Force majeure covers extraordinary situations that SDL has no control over. This could, for example, be extreme weather, major traffic incidents, strikes, government intervention, or other circumstances that prevent normal transport.
If a delivery is affected by such circumstances, we do our best to inform the customer and find a solution as quickly as possible.
